Calling ATLANTA Pelicans Caffine&Octane 3/2
Hi guys,
I have always wanted to go check out Caffine and Octane but never actually made it. It's on for tomorrow March 2, and the 70degree Sunny weather looks wonderful. So I wanted to see if any other local Pelicans might be interested in going as well. Would be fun to put a face to some names and meet in person. All the info is on their site caffineandoctane.com but it's 8am off 400 on Winward Parkway. If there is some interest then I'll see how to coordinate something so we can all park together. I think it will be fun and might prevent me from going overboard today on some OCD project on the car that would otherwise keep it on jack stands for a week. Just let me know.

Robbie i quit going to COA a while back along with some others porsche and other marque guys. if you have never been you should go as you will see stuff you have never seen and on the other hand it looks like a new car dealership and it is chaos and to some not enjoyable anymore.
i saw this on F chat today where a some pelican / PCar folks lurk. i plan to cheek this one out. "a new car group this Sunday for cars 25 years & older (located off Rt 92 just past Sandy Plains by a Waffle House and a fitness center 8-10:30) Many of us have quit going to the "Car Max" & vendor show off Windward Parkway!"

You know.... I kind of wondered if there might be something off about it. Thanks.
I'd love to go check out the one you mentioned instead. Do you have a link or something I can search to get a little more detail? I just don't know that neck of the woods all that well. Thanks Charles.

I might come out. Long haul from here but the car needs the exercise.
Post which one you decide to go to.

The Atlanta COA used to be very enjoyable when it was held at the Avenues of East Cobb. Every location since has been a disappointment, not to mention that it keeps moving farther and farther away.
I went to the current Windward Parkway office park location last year - once. You had to be there around 6 AM to get a decent parking spot and the only coffee available was brought in by some nice ladies representing the Susan B. Komen breast cancer folks. I didn't see a visible source for rest rooms, either. The parking situation at the office park was abysmal considering the huge turnout. After that experience I decided that it wasn't worth the 70 mile round trip. Maybe it is better now but the old Avenues location and amenities spoiled me. cellision nailed it in one word: chaos

This COA thing is starting to sound like something I just have to experience first hand some time. Like seeing a giraffe give birth or something.
Looks like tomorrow I'm heading up to the Sandy Plains thing with Cellison. So since he was the one that first mentioned this thing I'm assuming it's on. I'm meeting him and one of his buddies with a Lotus at the Waffle house just off 400 @ Holcomb Bridge going east at 9am so if any of you guys are in our area just post up that you are coming so we will know to be looking for you if you want to meet there too. we can all trade some offline contact info by PM in order to coordinate meeting so just shoot me a message. Should be fun.

Would love to meet up with some fellow pelicans but can't make this time around, hope someone will post again with plans to go next time. The COA is a sight to see, Atlanta is such a sleeper car town. Cellison is right about the level of crazy and seeing cars you won't see anywhere else.

If I didn't have the car apart I'd go. I went to one C&O last year. I used to be pretty regular with a group of friends. I have heard increasing dissatisfaction although I think the organizers have done a remarkable job. They have had a lot of problems with idiots... they are no longer at the Avenues because of the guy that spun his Lambo into the median trying to be a show-off. Then the neighbors in the Johns Creek HS area complained about the noise with people revving their engines at 6:30a in a residential area.

I agree on the show off Windward. Its getting boring and not worth getting up at 6 in the morning to get a decent spot anymore. Whats showing up more are new cars and its become more of a custom rod show then what was represented over the years at the Avenue in East Cobb. I cannot check out this new Woodstock location today (sunday), but if one of you who attended today can report back it would help to drum up more enthusiasm for us with the older cars. I'll certainly head over next month.
Thanks Bob 73,5T |

Went to the meet in woodstock today and had a good time, great cars, people and a much better vibe than C&O recently. Can't remember the last time i saw a messerschmitt on the road !
I drove over in my Scout instead of the 911, porsche was well represented from 356 to 930 and lots in between. I will definitely go back. |

Will this occur every sunday or the first sunday of each month? North or south side of Holcomb Bridge?
Thanks Bob |

Bob it is on the left coming from Roswell in a shopping center with a LA fitness and waffle house right past Sandy Plains. not sure if it's weekly or first of the month. it was a pretty good gathering. Robbie/mazing is also a neighbor of ours.

If you want to experience an old fashion cars, coffee and donuts morning cruise-in, you must try Donut Derelicts in Chamblee at least once: Atlanta Donut Derelicts. You never know what you will see, an F40, Carrera GT, Pantera, hot rot, rat rod, 57 Chevy, TR6, you name it, almost everything has been there at least once.

Hi guys. Had a great time this morning and it was great meeting you Ben and Charles. Look forward to next time. That Donut thing looks pretty cool too. And it's every saturday apparently. Maybe we should try to pic one a week or two out and try to make it a big Pelican meet up.
Thanks again on the event selection cellison!
