Sounds aftermarket to me. My sources indicate that the slantnose wasn't offered in '80, being starting in '81, and applied only to 930's.
But under the "special order program" who knows what could have happened? To quote: "Flachbau" ("slantnose") 930 under the "Sonderwunschprogramm" (special order program) beginning in 1981, an otherwise normal 930 with a 935-style slantnose instead of the normal 911 front end. Also please note: Non turbo FactorySlant nose??? |

It might be strange enough for me...LOL
I am 3000 miles away and of course everything is in Ca.. so..........Maybe some one will have a idea too. I asked for the option code list.Maybe that will help.(if they get it to me)

Maybe one of the special order ones. Production was from 1987-89. Pictures would be helpful.

When looking at any 911 or 912 you really need to know how to break down the VIN, only then will you know what you are looking at.
Given that this car is 35 years old, there has been more than enough time for the thing to be modified well beyond what it originally was. 91A0140011 serial series: 91 = 911SC A = 1980 0 = 1 = Targa 4 = USA version

If it is a add on the car is just a molested POS
If it was a option then I would be interested.

I would also say it is a conversion, but it looks well done--and is probably steel, which is much preferred to fiberglass. The hood looks slightly ajar. 1980 was the first year of slantnose production, so it is unlikely this is one of the first. It wasn't even an option until 1986.

Hmm... claimed to be built as an '80 model, but carries a VIN from 1981 production...

The ad states clearly the car for sale is a 1980 911SC. No SC ever came from the factory with a widebody, only 930 and M491 Carrera. The dealers did many widebody conversions but that is not factory even though they used Porsche parts to do them. Porsche factory started stamping slant nose option M505 designation on the option code plates in 1987.

Sorry, my response was to the post immediately preceding it, which talked about the first slantnose built. The car in that link did not have a 1980 chassis number.
The chassis number in the original post is for a 1980 model. JR |
