Anyone recognize this 86 Porsche
Hi, Thinking about buying this 1986 Carrera. Car is in Japan but originally came from US.
Anyone recognize these mods: - another key hole in the door (i think it is alarm....?) - extra gauges instead of radio ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks, Stan |

No, but for some reason that extra key hole reminded me of Roger Moore's 3rd nipple:

That extra keyhole tells me that whoever did that is a moron. What other damage have they done to the car??????
Instinct tells me to keep looking |

But the strange thing is that this extra keyhole has a Porsche key !
As far as other mods - i am too scared to check these hanging wires coming from from under the dash and strange boxes under passenger seat... But, I did buy it ![]() Last edited by hotaru; 09-19-2015 at 04:06 AM.. Reason: add comment |

The factory alarm is typically in the door jamb. The one on your car looks like the ones I've seen on 944s. They are usually placed on the driver's rear quarter panel. I just saw one today at my mechanic's shop.
The exterior of the car looks good, but you'll need patience in undoing the gauges and wiring. How is the condition of the leather dash?

The Japanese are known for really running the sh!# out of there cars. I'd pass.

Body looks clean and it appears to be an EURO model. wonder if it has smog equipment. Should since it is in Japan, pretty strict there from what I understand.

No, it isn't an ignorant statement. Have you been to Japan? It's commonly known. Besides, driving cars hard isn't a disparaging or racist comment. Italians drive fast, who cares? google it. http://zoomingjapan.com/life-in-japan/driving-in-japan/ Warning: the following video may seem offensive to the always offended crowd. https://youtu.be/xSzK2Z3v8xY To the OP, probably not many options for you [didn't notice you lived in Japan] Good luck with your new [to you] 911 !
