Clutch pedal SNAPPED how to replace it?

My clutch pedal literally tore. The metal arm broke off about 4 inches up from where it connects at the base of the pedal assembly. I'm looking at this and not sure how to remove/replace the pedal.

Anyone know how to do it?

Probably going to have to replace the whole cluster to get to just the pedal. There is a pelican that rebuilds clusters, do a search in the classifieds.

That is some pretty thick metal to just break...

Easiest thing would be to weld it in situ... Shouldn't be too difficult... Heck of a lot less work than replacing the whole thing...

Pedal cluster rebuild.......

Nick,

Remove the complete pedal cluster unit from your car. Clean and inspect for the broken pin. It is very difficult and tedious to fix and repair your collapsed pedal cluster in situ. This is a common maintenance or repair project for DIY'ers. Take pictures and post them.

Yeah my clutch started sinking to the floor. After a couple more presses it just fell out into my hands. Heard it has happened before but I'm still quite surprised.

Welding may be an option. I live with a metal worker actually, but as he is visiting we have no access to tools. Anyone know where to borrow some welding stuff?

Is it the arm that broke or the pin? Trying to figure out how the arm would break, but thats what was mentioned...

Arm was broken I'll upload a picture

Ouch. You can weld that, but will need to disassemble the cluster most likely...

Question is; why'd it snap?

I got a whole new refurbished pedal box assembly from Bruce Stone. You can send in your old one as a core.

pampadori 09-25-2015 11:09 AM

How long did it take you to pull and reinstall the pedal box assembly?

MDamen 09-25-2015 11:25 AM

You need to pull the pedal cluster, remove the rest of the clutch pedal and get it replaced or welded. Might as well replace the bushings while you have it apart.

gazzerr 09-26-2015 10:01 AM

I haven't attempted to install it yet :). Hope to soon. On my list of projects.

If you get it out today I am at work till 4:30 in the park,I can weld it. I also have a bushing kit for the pedal cluster at home that i havent got around to installing if it is an emergency. PM me

Are you an OBGYN and you have a welder at work?

I am only an OBGYN on my 911 because I am always up in the back end of her. I have a welder at work and i Know how to use it. But we dont have room to work on a car just parts.
