Do I have to lower the engine to replace or adjust the Crankshaft position sensor? I have an 85 3.2.
Thank you |

Why do you think you need to adjust the Reference and Speed sensor?
All they are is a coil of wire and a magnet and fairly reliable. The plastic outer boot on the wire however is not up to the task for 25 years. If you measure the resistance of the coil an make sure the shield is not shorted to signal it should answer your questions.

One more thing to scratch off the list
My car hits a wall at 3500 - 4000 rpm. I have checked many things. Someone on pelican had the same problem and said that it was the crankshaft position sensor. This would be one more thing that I can scratch off the list.

The reference sensor is not used after the car starts. Do you have anything you could check the signal level out of the speed sensor with? A scope would be nice but an AC multimeter would work also. I'm not sure what the level should cranking be but Sal or Ingo will chime in with what the levels are after they see this.
