Mine was downloaded from a font supplier on the net and cut at a graphics workshop. Here it is - I chose not to have any backing, just letters...

I know I'll be sorry, but I've got to ask. Why?

I've never understood why someone would apply one of these decals. Does it make it easier to find your vehicle in a parking lot? Do you often forget what you're driving? Are you afraid some unkown someone on the street might not recognise your brand or model? Why would you care?

I don't understand this type of automotive fashion so I really am curious as to the purpose

Good luck finding the decal you're looking for.

Why not write to Porsche and ask them?!! They slapped it right down the sides of the cars in huge letters before anyone else did...
For me, it looks 'racy' and stands out a bit more.

Yeah, I have to say I don't see the attraction either, but to each his own.

As for Porsche doing it back in the '60s/'70s, it first appeared on race cars, and they were trying to promote the marque and sell cars, which is a whole different thing.

Yes, that's true; they put "Carrera" just above the rockers on some models also. Were such graphics available on all models? I thought only the somewhat special cars such as the "S", "RS" or "Carrera" were candidates for such lettering. I guess, if I had one that came with such graphics on it, I probably would keep it that way, if only due to it's rarity.

I meant no offense, you have every right to decorate your car as you like, I guess I just prefer a "lower profile".

BTW, IMHO, your car already "stands out". After the VW beetle, it's probably the most recognised automotive silhouette in the world.

Cordially,

No offence taken sir, not at all - I agree it's slightly vulgar, totally stating the obvious and rather pointless...people often ask me 'why?'

If there ever was a need for a windshield sticker, it would be for the new Porsches. We need ones that say "Boxster" and "Carrera" so we can tell what is coming at us.

from a racing standpoint and how tall i am, you are literally focused on the road ahead of your eyes with no upper sun light, sky, trees etc. to bother your focus. i love it, made a big difference in not being distracted.

If I was to go with a windshield banner it would say
AIR COOLED CLASSICS baby!

What's better then that?
Nothing......

For the black part, all you need is adhesive vinyl. I use off-the-shelf contact paper. Then you can get the letters as a vinyl decal to put on top of that. My "R Gruppe" sticker is small, but you get the idea.

The banners are useful if you have sponsor obligations (I don't). But if your car has a cage, then it probably is missing its visors. The banner keeps the sun from getting in your eyes in the early morning and late afternoon.

I like the look of windshield decals, but not overbearing. It actually looks better in person cause it's easier to read. It also doesn't have the tint to shade because the windshield is all ready blued and it's only the letters. I think it's just a touch of class:
