Custom forum search...
I created a custom Google engine a while ago for the Pelican 911 Technical forum. I find this works very well. Here's a link in case it is useful for others:
https://cse.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=014238775269149376701:ojolaky8hjg I believe I have this created correctly so that you can save this link and use it at will. Let me know if this doesn't work. Last edited by fanaudical; 09-27-2015 at 06:57 PM.. |

Banned but not out, yet..

Gave it a whirl and it works fine. Any tips to really drill down?

Will it do user searches?
Specifically, it would be nice to be able to go back more than 20 pages to find old posts by users.

I'm glad you all like it. I have found it very useful.
I have not found a good way to search for posts by users with this link. Put in a user name and it will bring up everywhere that user name shows up (which seems to include more than posts). The advanced forum search tool seems to work best for finding specific user posts. As for "drilling down" - My recommendation is to select specific keywords that you know should be in the thread and also use quotes for phrases. |

It's excellent, Fanaudical. Can you make one for the 911 engine rebuild forum; or one that works for both the technical and engine rebuild forums? Or, better yet, explain how you did it so that we can create our own?
Thank you for this contribution. dho |

I forgot to mention - it already does search both the 911 tech forum and the engine rebuilding forum.
To create your own, you first need a google account (gmail) and then go to cse.google.com - They have a little video with reasonable explanations. I have another one for the used parts classifieds, but it doesn't seem to update fast enough to be useful (parts are gone by the time it hits the search engine). |
