Rewiring Brake lights from Brake light switch

I would like to rewire my brake light system from the brake light switch at the pedal to the lamps at the back of the car. The existing wiring is questionable.

I do have the workshop manual, and I cannot discern the correct gauge that I should use. I was also wondering if anybody else has done this and how they recommend I route the wire from the front of the car at the brake light switch to the rear of the car with the brake lights are.

So

1) What is the recommended gauge wire?
2) How would you route the wire from the front of the car to the brake lights?

Thanks

The Porsche wire diagrams specify wire size in mm. A little searching might find a conversion from mm to wire gauge.

AWG to square mm Wire Gauge Conversion

Porsche wire diagrams give the wire size in square mm. Above is a conversion chart.

16 awg black with yellow tracer is about right for that wire.
Which wires are questionable? In the switch area to fuse 11, or from switch area all the way to tail lights, or at the tail lights?
The green/blue runs to fuse 11 in the front of the car, the 2 black/yellow wires run through the main body harness and split out to the two 6 pin connectors at the tail light connectors. They continue in the tail light harnesses to the lamps.

Thanks Guys!

I appreciate the help, I think this will get me going. The PO rewired the circuit -not quite cricket, so I'm just trying to the old gal to spec, the green blue wire from the fuse box is solid, it is the wiring to the brake light that gives me concern.
