				12 V eletrical heater

I am planning to run header without heat on my 73. I thought of using one 12V 150W heating element on each side just before the flapper boxes at the back. The air will be pushed through by the engine an as normal. Has anyone done this? Will 2 x 150 W heaters be enough? The car is not run during the winter, I just need enough warmth to keep the front widow mist free. Comments appreciated.

Are you kidding?? VW bugs from the 60's had much larger space to heat and the little forced air system would heat you out of the car!!!! It was a great system.

I like the idea, my car has headers also and a little heat for defrost would be nice.

Curious as to how the air will be pushed into the flapper boxes without heat exchangers. Running ducts straight to them?

The company I work for sells them, but I would never use one. Not enough heat to be noticeable. I doubt the alternator could keep up with one that was large enough; and just for use as a defogger.

Think about it. How much heat would you get blowing air over a 100 watt bulb? (I know, it's anot the same, but it puts it into an easy to get concept). PLUS, pushing that air , "heated" through cold channels all the way to the windsheild will cool it down.

Makes more sense just to put a little 120V space heater inside the car with a voltage inverter. Or just rig up a hair dryer under the dash.
