Another 901 early owner history needed

Thisi is the one recently sold in NC. the ad says:

"Craig Lewis from Columbus, Ohio owned #300 232 for thirty years. In the early 1980’s he bought the car from a manager of a local automotive service facility. Craig could not remember his name, but vividly recalls the man selling the car because he was about to get married. He sold the car to Craig with the original Solex carburetors in a box. Craig had spent time in his youth working in a local body shop and would do the majority of restoration on the 911 over a twelve year time period. He had the car chemically dipped and replaced the floor pans. Craig frequently drove the 911 and showed it in local car club shows over the years. Craig eventually sold the car to Road Scholars in 2012 and is now enjoying retirement. He professed that the #300 232 was really a labor of love over the years he owned it."

I was wondering what Craig bought it for, guessing, since we're going back to the early '80s, when it was already at least a fifteen year old car, maybe $4,000. Of course the dealer who just sold it won't tell me the price but maybe someone knows what they were asking for it...if they held the line the asking price was the selling price.

I didn't read the story real close but had Porsche already changed the number on the back deck to "911" and was it titled as a 1964 Porsche or 1965? I hate to quote Wikipedia but they said that many 901 were either test cars or auto show cars and not supposed to be sold.
Sayeth Wiki:
"The 901 was presented at the Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (Frankfurt Motor Show) in Frankfurt in September 1963, …. It took several more months until the cars were manufactured for sale to customers. Between 14 September and 16 November 1964, 82 cars were built[1] and the 901 was presented in October at the 1964 Paris Auto Salon. Wikipedia says: “Officially the 901s already constructed were used for testing and for exhibitions, and Porsche sold none to private customers. Nevertheless, several of the cars retained by Porsche at that time appear to have made it to private ownership subsequently: in 2010 it was reported that car number 37 was owned by a Porsche specialist named Alois Ruf.”
Another book ("Porsche Red Book?") which has passages you can read (but not copy) on the net said 13 Porsche 911 prototypes were made between 1962-'64 the earliest of which is no. 7 chassis 13327 and the car is in the U.S. and the oldest 911. But then the book goes on to discuss the 901 and says 82 were built bearing 901 chassis numbers.

Found story on earlier one 300 005

On the website Earliest "Production" 911 In Existence Found Hidden In Plain Sight - @FlatSixes - the blog about Porsche

In a nutshell, Jay bought in 1984, did not look like early car until you got close. The story says it was built Sept. 21st, 1964.
Here's some of the story:

"Back in 1984, Jay was just a casual enthusiast who picked up a second job in order to afford a really cool Porsche to drive. In his words, "back then I beat [the car] like it owed me money". After driving it for quite a while, the Porsche was parked and he shuffled it around in storage for a couple of decades. It had sentimental value, I'm sure. Older, perhaps wiser, and with the recent surge in interest in early 911s, Jay thought it was about time to drag his out of storage and give it a thorough going over. That was when the discoveries began."

I'd like to know, for historical purposes, how he found it, what model year the car was sold at (incorrectly registered maybe as the year the dealer sold it) and about what he paid if anyone knows. I wonder if it came out of the factory as a 901 and the factory changed its designation to 911.
