I have ordered a set of LED headlights from rothaus for my 83 sc.

I'm looking forward to trying this out. I've had this car for 30 years and still have the original sugar scoops.

Are they DOT approved and fit the H4s? Looked at the link, but can't tell.

Please check the dimensions before you order them. They may not fit. Make sure you can return them in case they don't fit into the lamp holder.

Cheers

Littleoldman - The Amazon lights look identical to the one rothaus is selling. Why would you buy from Amazon when for a few dollars more you could support a fellow Pelican that did all of the research and posted photos of the lights in use on a 911 & 944?

Guys,

I installed the GE Nighthawk 7" rounds tonight into my sugar scoop buckets. Have not yet done relay upgrade so this is with stock wiring. I did have the H4 bulb upgrade/conversion kit sold here on Pelican, so I was running H4 bulbs (itself a huge improvement over sealed beams.)

Observations:
- Much brighter, white/blue light. Like that light quality while driving, for sure.
- Fit is good, but does require that the retaining ring "snap" onto the bulb. Difficult to explain but pictures below probably illustrate. The GE bulb is much deeper than standard 7" incandescent or H4 insert bulbs.
- The bulbs have a pigtail attached to their 3-prong female plug, a plus for installation ease.
- Because of the deeper bulb, the face protrudes more from the trim ring and (in my opinion at least) gives you a hybrid "H4-like" appearance that is kinda cool. Less of the sugar scoop is visible.
- The front has a "GE" logo on it (not wild about that but whatever) on the horizontal chrome strip that separates the low and high beams. The chrome strip modernizes the look tastefully and almost gives a slotted eye appearance. Looks better in person.

I'll drive with these a while and update you guys on anything I find out. Quick switch and I really like them so far! On my drive around the block, the quality was noticeable and no one flashed me so I think the pattern for oncoming drivers is good. You can see the difference between the solid pattern of the LEDs vs the spotty old H4s in the photos.

Those LumeTechnik lenses are beautiful, but also $2k a pair...good for some but I was looking for something a little more reasonable

Those look like a lot of fly-by-night operations...I wouldn't buy most of that stuff until I saw some extensive reviews. I've only heard of JW Speaker and KC.

GE = General Electric. I am sure you would agree that they don't fall into the FBN category.

Once you've driven with them a bit I'd be curious to hear your feedback on them, and which model you purchased.

Not sure about the look shown (go to that website and maybe contact them).

The old bookmarks in this forum I have are for VW/356 Porsche conversions with exposed tabs as I recall.

Purchased these LED headlights from Rothaus. I did not get the chance to drive the car until after 12mn here which was good because I have not adjusted the lights yet. Took a 5 minute drive. These LED headlights are a big improvement over my old headlights.

Truck-Lite makes the led GE nighthawk bulb, rebranded. The Truck-lite is cheaper and doesn't have the center logo.

They look amazing, but I still think the grey inside of the H4 housing could do with a Chrome of black finish.

Thoughts?
