Stiff G50 Shift

Hi Guys. I'm having an issue with my '88 going into 1st and 2nd gear. I replaced the shift ball cup bushing awhile back, and it really improved my ability to find the gears, but now 1st and 2nd are really hard to shift into. I have read about syncros and replacing fluid and such (I put Mobil 1 in), but the gear doesn't grind at all, just feels like a nub in the shifter holding it back. There is very little change when the car warms up. Could I have mis-aligned the shift mechanism somehow by removing just the front lever mechanism?

Also, I have read the G50 does not have the syncros like the 915 and 901, but some type of integrated bands with the gear? Does this sound right?
