I'm really close to ordering 24 steel head studs from PP and wonder if I need new CE gaskets (for the reason below...)
A couple weeks ago, I briefly installed the heads with NEW CE gaskets, then removed the heads again (within hours) as soon as I snapped a few studs. I did have the heads torqued to spec (minus 3 studs) during this brief time. Are the CE gaskets now crushed and needing replacement, or can I re-use? Also, I DO need to replace the previously-new .25mm copper cylinder gaskets I briefly torqued down on...right? They look fine, but...? yeah, they're toast. one time only. the base gaskets should live.
the head to cylinder o rings are more of a fluid leakage seal than a head gasket. the head seals to the cylinder metal to metal.
