new porsche dealership in atlanta?

I was at the Lexus store in Roswell on Mansell Rd earlier this week, and was told the building under construction across the street from them is for a new Porsche dealership. Does anyone know anything more specific about this, i.e. name, when it will open, etc.

Also in the Atl paper yesterday, there was an advertisement for
Roock Porsche Performance Service and Sales now open on Alpharetta Hwy accross from Andretti's. Does anyone have experience w/ this shop?

I wonder if Ellis is moving his Porsche operations up "where the money is" kinda like Ferrari did?

Rooke had/has a shop at Road Atlanta, I thought they did mostly race cars??

Thumbs up

i don't think it would be ellis. they just moved into a new facility at 285 and p'tree industrial. years ago, brumos had a dealership on cobb parkway, but closed it down in the late 70s early 80s. maybe they are coming back. I remember watching peter gregg at Road A back in the 70s.

roock is heavily into racing, but i think they are expanding into the area where the money is w/ performance tuning, primarily on the new (996) cars. i may swing by there today.

I pass by the place daily and its tough to see as its small and tucked back a bit. Its not ELLIS thats for sure. They were working in the small showroom this weekend (could hold maybe 3-4 cars). Appears the service bay area is behind the building through a chain linked gate.

I heard that ELLIS was expanding to the Roswell/Alpharetta area but I have not seen anything yet. It would be a great location and save me a trip down Peachtree Industrial for parts.

Check out the Ferrari showroom sometime............about 1 mile or so north of the Rook shop on the right.

Regards
Bob

cool

roock racing is pretty crazy

they made an insane car...it was reviewed in excellence a while back

I know SoCal Tony Callas went out to work on the Roock Le Mans campaign last year...

if the dealership does well it could be a new Brumos and hopefully they get a consistent race team here

i guess we'll have to see what dealership it is, but at least it's "in the hood" and another place to go to drool on sunday mornings.

i stopped by roock on saturday and talked to the owner. he said he was getting out of racing to focus on starting a network of NA dealers, begining w/ his first operation in Roswell. He may get back into racing w/ his own team if the retail shops take off. he will work on 356s up to the 996s for street and race prep. the real grand opening will be in a couple weeks, as he only had 3 cars in the shop on saturday, and 1 was a trick 996, but had been wrecked on the left side...go figure.

Good to see Hennessy is opening up a Porsche store to add to all his other dealers. I went to elementry school with one of Hennessy's son's in the late 60s-early 70s in Atlanta, when they had the Caddy store on Piedmont Rd. Wonder if I can get the long lost elementary school kick ball team member discount.
