How to Use the Forum's Search Function?

Someplace in this forum's huge data base there has to be a thread on how to use the search function for multi word phrases. If you know where/what it is please respond. Thanks

go through google and type in pelican forum as part of your keywords. works way better than the site.

Yeah, the parts search is a crapshoot as well. Google is your friend.

Go to google main page, click on "settings", then click on "advanced search". Enter your search argument, scroll down to "site or domain" and enter Porsche 911 tech forum URL (copy from PP page and paste). Then scroll down and click "advanced search"
Easy peasy!!

Will the Google search work for the Parts Catalog as well? Good to know. The "new" parts catalog search is VERY frustrating, if not buggy. Sometimes, even knowing the part number comes up empty.

It's so ironic that such a great BBS can suck so badly with it's search feature. Sorry, Wayne, but it's true.

Many times I want to compare parts that are available for different years of 911s. For example recently I wanted to update my fuel filter, using a 911 part. I had to resort to an old A u t o m o t i o n catalog to figure it out.

If anyone can figure out how to search a user's posts beyond the 20 page limit I'd appreciate it.

Another member created this a few weeks ago.
I really like it.

Use advanced search , use the date constraint to start at the oldest of the first 20 pages, and choose older than.

Just use Bing and put in what you want...all of the Pelican threads will pop up and actually more than you'd get using the site search.

My favorite way is to use

search term site:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/

space between the term and 'site', no spaces thereafter.

i do what r-mm does. only thing however is that when you use the search function at the forum, it highlights the search terms I used in red...which is a very nice feature.
