Targa Script

Should the Targa script located on the Targa bar of my 1980 be painted black or silver ?

Thanks

There's some debate about that. PP sells the script in both colors, so obviously it was available in both over the years. My understanding is the black script is for the brushed metal (unpainted) bars, and the silver script is for the black bars - but I've seen plenty of counter examples.

An idea might be to take the silver one, paint it black with Plastidip, and put it on the car. Then if you ever want to go back to silver, you can just peel off the Plastidip.

My 82 came to me with black bar and silver script, and the "911SC" on the engine lid was also silver, but I painted that black and like it better that way.

Good luck!

For your 1980, it should be anodized black, not painted, same as the 911SC emblem on the engine lid. However the black anodizing is not light-fast, and it fades in the sun over time. I bought new black anodized lug nuts a couple years ago and they are already starting to fade. If you were to remove either emblem I believe you will find them to be black underneath. I wound up spray painting mine black until I get them re-anodized someday.
