What size spacers do you run on 8x16 Fuchs? 15mm or 21mm?

I'd like to get the look of 9'' Fuchs on my rear wheels. Based on what I've read in previous threads it looks like either 15mm or 21mm is the correct spacer size depending on the size of the tire.

If my Fuchs are the 911 offset and running 225/50 tires will I be able to fit 21mm spacers? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I've seen guys running 21mm with 245/50.

Here are some pictures of how the 8's currently look.

A 7mm spacer would put the outside on an 8" wheel in the same place as a 9.

I understand most of the 9's width is towards the chassis of the car. I guess I should have said I'd like to get the widest look I can without having to roll the fenders or compromise the ride or handling.

That's a function of what tires you run, your ride height, alignment settings and a couple other things. Maybe Bill Verburg will give you some advice, if he sees this thread. Otherwise, you might want to do a little measuring on your own, since when you want to move the wheels out as far as you can, you get into having to measure the individual car. What works on one car may not work on another.

Don't forget to change your wheel studs for longer ones, if you run spacers. Make sure the spacers are hub-centric and high quality parts.

the front space Δ between a Fuchs 9ET15 and 8ET10.6 is 8.3mm, the 9 outer edge sites that much further outboard.
the backspace Δ is 17.10mm, the 9 inner edge sits that much further inboard.

max outboard front space I've seen fitted to an SC/Carrera w/o compromising ride height too much is ~114mm, the Fuchs 9 is ~108mm, the 8 is 100mm (all rounded to the nearest mm)

the max inboard back space(after trailing arm nut and oil line mods) is ~152mm the 9 is ~139mm, the 8 ~122mm

I run 14mm spacers on my 8" 10.6ET Fuchs. Seems about right. Longer studs were required (they came with the spacers) I used H&R # 2895716. They are hub-centric. Tires are 225 width but tire width measurement varies with brand/model. Also negative camber setting is a factor.

This all jives with what Bill Verburg says. He is the wheel/tire fitment oracle.

^^^^ All this, though in my case I run 245/45/16 on 8" BBS-RS wheels. 14mm spacer, no rolled fenders, and no rubbing. Car is lowered a bit as well. Not sure much more space is possible (not even a mm). Sorry for the crappy photo.
Lyle.
