How do you treat your 993?
To me the 993 is such a refined machine it deserves to be treated as such.
My friend Pablo treats his differently. Or should i say indifferently. He makes a crack [stretched the truth a little bit] about me in the story below having asked him why he's not concerned about it's condition. I guess he's right about me to a degree [i did invent magdoorbumpers] although I work with my hands and have never ironed anything in the last decade that i recall.. Here's his piece he wrote: MultiBriefs - Your source for industry specific News Briefs PS I drive my Porsches pretty hard at times and let them accumulate a layer or two of dust, I just don't beat the **** out of them or leave them outside in the rain.

Used not abused.
There is a difference between driving fast and abusing. I would argue the difference is smoothness and maturity. I like a clean car, and I try to avoid the rain and I will avoid salt 100%. But... I drive in the rain, I have parked my car in the rain, and I don't stress every rock chip (but I do like to eventually touch them up). I might go weeks without washing it. I store it inside. I have a car cover, but it will only go on during winter storage. I have never done a burnout, but I have driven plenty fast plenty of times. I redline my car, but not every time I drive it. I don't abuse it by driving it so little that it is not allowed to properly warm up. I don't abuse it by driving it only infrequently. I change fluids more than I probably need to. I only rev it when it has warmed up properly. I don't miss shifts. I do my best to keep it well maintained, yet something always needs doing. But I have a 3.2 (3.4). I don;t think my philosophy would be different if I had a 993. Mind you, if I had a low miles pristine collector car of any year... I think I would change my tune. However, if I had one of those I would need a car like mine to "actually enjoy."

It seems everyone has a different take on what is appropriate respect for an air-cooled 911. Personally I drive mine with what I think was the philosophical principal of the car, namely it was conceived as a performance car that can be used daily.....and really "enjoyed" when the occasion arises. My cars have many stone chips, and accumulate more every trip but will I stop and avoid driving to preserve them (the cars, not the chips, LOL) No, for me, it would then be time to sell. Cheers
