Average labor time for valve adjustment
Good Day, what is a good average time for a valve adjustment on a 84 3.2?
Including oil change and new plugs..... 6-8 hours? Thanks |

What does a shop charge, or how long can you plan on being busy?

Not clear in your original post. You or a professional?

I think 6-8 hours is a little too much (especially for a professional shop). I guess adjusting the valves (of course the car should sit overnight for the engine to be cold), changing oil and plugs would be about 4 to 5 hours and that includes pulling and pushing my scissor lift around.

My valves were....
I just had mine done at Zims
Full oil change, Brad Penn + Valves adjustment + gasket (green) set Time was 5.50 hours, 100 per hour, total bill was $809.93 and worth every penny. Not a drop anywhere, quiet, smooth and fast on a very low mile (60k) 85 Carrrera. They even cleaned my valve covers to perfection. They weren't bad to start, way better now. I will do them myself at some point, not this time. Hope this helps.

That is if....
I might have misunderstood your post, sorry, if doing it myself it would be a lot longer, of course......
Sorry for the confusion, I thought you were asking about shop time and rates

Depends on the car, sometimes theres a need to add some time for cleaning and dealing with 30 years of road grime as well as rusted and seized hardware.
