car spotter thread

funny, I've seen some early 911's in and around NYC, but they are on the back of flat-beds....it's winter after all. Saw both of these at almost exactly the same spot, crossing the GWB

Last year

and today

I think I've seen two old 911s in NYC in a decade. One was a white impact-bumper parked by Union Square. Looked clean and stock. The other was a silver cab in a garage in midtown. Besides that, I guess there's the ratty black 944 near the Graham L...

My buddy Yale drives his metallic blue 70S around pretty regularly, I've seen 964's besides mine. My wife and I were buzzing around white plains and we spotted an Irish green 69 E that looked pretty sweet but we had left our 69S home that time and were in a z3. Oh well. It's nice having a camera nearby at moments like these.

There's a very well known shop up the road from the GW in Elmsford. I'm betting they were being trucked there. He gets cars to work on that are unbelievable.

And in the 'look what I spotted front', I was behind a silver GT2 a few years ago that was going a very slow 35-40 MPH north on the Henry Hudson. Trying to get a better look, I pulled up beside him in the right lane. Sure enough, it was our favorite comedian Porsche collector, doing 40MPH in a GT2!

That's cool to know he actually drives them. He has a large collection in Manhattan.

You might be seeing cars that are purchased by over-seas buyers that are being trucked into New York to be loaded on ships. My '85 was taken to New York (the Bronx, I think) on its way to the Netherlands this summer.
