Sources for Touch-up Paint?
I am after some touch-up paint for my '62 356. All the web searching I have done draws a blank on the colour I want (Champagne yellow 6205). Any suggestions please?

I've been using a touch-up paint I got from vertex auto. It matches well, but I have guards red. I'm not sure if they have champagne yellow, but it would be worth a look.

I have used automotive touch up.com and expresspaint.com. both have a good product, auto is in New Orleans, express paint is in los angeles and quite a bit quicker turning the order around for me.

I bought a kit from drcolorchip.com but haven't applied it yet. It sounds like your problem is the sellers don't list this old paint color. If that's the case, then go out and get some house paint samples and find the best match to Champagne Yellow. Send the seller the sample for custom matching.

Many thanks. I have tried most of these already but the colour is not in their range. It was not common I understand. I will as you suggest take the car or a piece of it for colour matching - then there has to be the right type of paint. On the early 356 cars (after 54) it was a synthetic enamel it seems.

Mervo....just a tip. On the Automotive Touch up site I looked for my color (copper brown 436) in the year my car was made and it was not listed.
I looked thru every Porsche year group and found it in the 76 year group. Do more than a quick search...might get lucky.

You may have some local sources as well. I had a little rust blemish on my Guards Red 911 and took it to my trusty body shop that I've used on every car ever owned the last 20 years. He matched it perfectly and also made me a little bottle of the stuff for covering rock chips, etc.

Many thanks. This is by far the best P-car forum in the world! The others are not even close.

I go to a local supplier of paint to the auto body shops. They make me pints of my selected color.
I use OMNI MTK. t uses a hardener and gives a nice finish. When I want to use it, I use Pre Val Sprayers. I make up a small batch, spray it and throw the used Pre Val sprayer away. This way I get to use a decent paint with a hardener in the correct color.

The old, original paint is a synthetic enamel. I would need to copy that I suspect or there could be problems with more modern paints?
