Austin SC Targa owners please PM me?

I am trying to find another SC here in Austin to try my Dan Petchel top on. He says it should fit and that I should try other targas.

I did try jbunda's car but his is a Carerra and has roller latches, so I can't latch it down.

If you're in ATX and would be willing to let me try my top on your car, please let me know via comment or PM! As a bonus, you'll get to see Dan's work up close and test fit a new top for your car!

Thanks in advance

Jason, i too have a new Dan top. I had problems installing my top at first. Discovered what the problem was and it fits perfect now. Share with me what issue you are having.

I have a '77 Targa that you can try it on - should be identical to an SC, methinks. I'll PM.

Frank thanks - I'll find a time we can meet.

Joe/DRACO - problem is it doesn't reach all the way to the roll bar, and water gets in when it rains (lots of it.)

I've adjusted the heck out of it. Want to be sure my car isn't the goofy part because I've followed all Dan's advice...

My problem was the opposite of yours. My top was so tight it was difficult to re-install. Solution was to roll rear bead "up" before and during install

I wish you the best and hope you find a solution. Please post what you find

Let's post some measurements.

My top is 30.5" from center of it measured to the back of it on the car.

Sorry to ask but do you happen to know if the car has been in an accident or if you are using a Targa body brace? If a Brace, is the tension being pulled or pushed?

Weird, these cars tend to close up as they age, not open. Dan did my top and it popped right in.
He uses a jig to restore them so I don't think it is the top being dimensionally wrong.

flat6s-
What do you mean by "roll rear bead up"? I am having a similar issue. I just replaced my front seal (with Dan's) and targa bar seal and now it is a real bear to re-install.

Don't know if the car was in an accident but looks very clean underneath, bumpers seem original, no welds on frame, spot welds in hood are intact, etc.

I'm away from the car but will post measurements here when I can. You measured the front of the top bead to the rear bead, or the front bead to the roll bar itself?

My top is also 30.5 and the opening measured from behind front and rear seals is the same, give or take an eighth.
