I don't know that I'd trust the vintage american mags...over 30 years old, exposed to time & weather, corrosion flaws could develop. If anybody has PANO copies from that era, they could see lots of photos...they seemed to be the wheel of choice for those racing the SWB 911 models. Wish I'd had the foresight to have bought a set...and stored them in an oil bath.

Yes, there is a sweet red 911 in the RGruppe that has a set of magnesium Americans on it. The car has a lot of patina, but it wears it well. PWD, I have had several sets of the magnesium Americans but like an idiot I sold them before I bought my "S". The wheel in the picture is a spare I have that has a large crack in it. They are very fragile and must be checked very carefully. The vintage Fuch is a much smarter way to go, but I have rarely been accused of being smart :D

American Racing sells 'vintage' wheels. Check out http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/wheels.asp?section=Vintage. The Torque-Thrust D looks similar.

Thanks Greg, but Im afraid it isnt that easy. These wheels are very specific for teh early 911. They of course have the Porsche bolt circle as well as a very high positive offset. As Paul was mentioning, they are almost 100% magnesium and didnt have a very good survival rate. Dave

So, they make the new replica "torque thrust D" in a Pcar bolt pattern? If so, cool! A natch match for the early cars, especially short wheel base models.

No, the American mags for early 911s were made in the late sixties. They are a very specific offset to fit under the fender of a 911 not to mention the Porsche bolt circle.
