Do Webers work well on an otherwise stock 2.4T CIS engine?
Hello
I have a line on a fully rebuilt 73.5 2.4T longblock. It has been completely rebuilt, top and bottom. Will this engine as presently configured play nicely with Weber carbs, assuming they are properly jetted? I have heard conflicting opinions on this. I realize this is a low (sub 8:1 IIRC) compression, super mild cam etc but I am looking for durability and good street manners, not a fire breather. Thank You Dan

Cost may be a consideration along with convenience. Better to install new PMO carb kit than piece together used Webers, intake manifolds, linkage, air cleaners, and then have Webers rebuilt & jetted for your application. You will also need to have your distributor reworked to have an advance curve matched for use with carbs.
When in good condition and properly tuned, either Webers or PMO carbs will make the engine & you happy.

If you have the stock CIS system parts, another option may be to consider the Bitz Racing EFI conversion. It uses a Megasquirt brain to update the engine to a more modern fuel injection system.
I love my Webers, but do appreciate the drivability of the modern EFI systems.

Thanks guys.
I do have a set of Webers I rebuilt some years ago but never used. After getting the COA and determining neither engine I currently have is orig to the car (one is a blank replacement case), I am evaluating my options... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Friend of mine has a 2.4T engine with carbs. Don't think it was a cis engine. With the help and some rework of the carbs by Paul Abbott he has one sweet running 2.4T. Paul is the master of the weber carb. He can give you advice for carbs on a cis engine. Personally, I really like carbs. Great looks and sounds and instant throttle response. Better access to the top of the engine.
