1973.5 911T purchase

I am looking at buying a 73.5 911T (CIS) as a project car that has been stored for at least five years. The front pan is rusted out at the battery locations, upholstery is pretty much toast even though its all there. I have turned the motor with a wrench but will not try and start it until taking all the precautions first (marvel oil in cylinders, new fuel, oil change, etc.).

I am about to make an offer but not sure what the maximum price I should pay? I am currently having a front pan replaced in my SC so I know that it is a big job when it is done correctly. I know some guys would run from a project like this but my desire to own a long hood has got the best of me and I couldn't afford a finished example at this time and I am willing to go the long haul on this car.

A few years ago, $1500.

Search for Porsches in a field.

These days $10k?

Might add 50% to that 10k these days especially if current owner doesn't live under a rock. Or iraq.

Have you checked to make sure it is matching numbers? If so it would probably start around $20,000. I would contact Porsche's COA, Phone 1-800-PORSCHE Email, coa@porsche.us, first if he has no documentation. Peanut headrests and not D shaped, even checking the dates on the back of the rims is important. Correct wheels can be expensive for 73 and earlier if you want a numbers matching car.

Even though I think that is totally ridiculous, I have to agree. We just got a '72 car in the shop yesterday that has been bastardized into looking like a slant nose, short hood, Miami Vice era car that has been sitting for over 20 years. and the new owner paid exactly $20K for it and he was estatic!!

73.5t

I just bought 3 of them in the last year.
20k for a basket case with matching numbers and then up from there. Hard to evaluate without pix
Regards
Mitch

Really kinda freaking scary if you think about it. Spending $20k on project. I remember paying $8k for my first running/driving/low miles/rust free 70T. I drove it for a few years and sold it for that too. A year later I saw one sell for $13k. I thought to myself "I left a couple grand on the table". LOL

I'm not a big fan of resurrecting junk. If the car is a 911S maybe. A 911T CIS - not so much.

With a $20,000 buy in you're going to be spending money so fast Visa will bump your limit to the stratosphere.
