Whats the diff between the various sealants?

I see hondabond mentioned...

Loctite 515

Loctite 574

Ultragrey

Ultrablack

Curil-T

Hyolomar

The list goes on.. Is one of these better than another... really? I know some of these are anerobic... others RTV...

Is anerobic better than rtv?

I have used hondabond and it works great on oil gaskets... doesn't do much when gas is involved...

Is there an objective benefit of one over another? Or, is it like oil and religion - where everyone has their favorite?
