Post Help with engine number...please :)

Hello all,

This is the engine number on my 1980 SC; *6402273*

My car was manufactured in 2/80. In trying to find out if
it has the improved idler arms/chain sprocket supports,
I was told that engine numbers >= 451 have this fix.
If I recall, according to the number above, mine is
#2273, is this correct? However, the change did not occur until
mid 1980 and I am confused. The 2/80 date and high engine
number seem to conflict. Can anyone enlighten me?

BTW, this was cross-popsted to Rennlist too...

TIA

-Brad

Brad,

There isn't a discrepancy, since the 1980 production run began in August, 1979.
