Solved: Are these voltmeter readings normal?

Backstory here:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/893162-part-two-these-voltmeter-readings-normal.html#post8897581

I put it back together last night. Car started with no battery light. Voltmeter indicated 14.4V.

Somewhat of a mystery what solved it. The true variable is the ALT ground strap which I installed. It didn't have one previously.

The other possible solution was the finiky BATT lightbulb. The holder was loose, and it has a slight crack (it will be replaced). I've read that a burned out, or finiky bulb is a single point of failure in the charging system.

Truth is, I have no idea what solved it.

A shout to Mark Motshagen, who repaired, ceramic coated my fan and housing.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in.
