started my winter project and have a few questions.

Hey Fellas
I was able to pull the car out of the shack I keep her in and started the Winter project. I am in the process of removing all the Camel interior and replacing it with the Black RS carpet I home made out of Perlon Felt. I am having a Bugger of a time removing all the left over Glue residue from the old carpet set... I have the 3-M adhesive remover that everyone mentioned.. it seems to work but it is very slow work indeed. not that really mind at all.. but I am sure the cold weather isn't helping me out any

It was only 21 degrees out today while I was working on it.. had to keep the windpws down as to not make my self sick with fumes and kill the last few remaining brain cells I have!

I would also Like to ask you guys if you have any insight as to a good way to make ( well with out replacing them) the last few Camel Parts Black.. i.e the Dash,under Dash try and the upper door panels.. I have heard of the Import kids using a interior paint of some sort.. has anyone heard of this? if so what do you make of it? well I will throw up a few pics of where I am at so far.. I know I like it when guys post pics so i 'll give it a try ... I am also saving all my pennies to buy my Gal a new set of Light 17" wheels for next season.. I had a set of Black 993 cup wheels but they were so HEAVY it was to much unsprung weight for me to over look.. so i traded a guy staight up for a good ole "SKINNY" set of 6 ers and 7 inch Fuchs.. like the look of them but they are way to skinny..

any way here are a few pics if I can get them to work..
I am off to lay down after smelling fumes for the past couple of hours...

eric there are a couple of different vinyl aresol sprays on the market that will do what you need, that's what the import kids use (the ones that don't use normal krylon

).
i've use it for custom audio stuff and it works great as long as the surface you're spraying is prepped properly.
be aware to change the color of leather you will need to use a dye (not sure if anything you want changed is leather)

The Interior parts I want to change are not leather really but a plastic of sorts.. it rather hard. but it FOR SURE not leather. hahha that I do know. I will give it a shot and see hwta happens if it goes bad I guess I'll have to call on you guys for old black panels that you may not be using.

I tell ya what fella's that Tar that pulled up off the bottom of the pan, is HEAVY!! i was scrapping al bloody day on that crap! and it was worth it.. not for sure no water will trap itself between the tar carp & floor pan.. cuz its GONE! I will recover it with a sealer and leav it at that.. as I want as much weight off the car as I can! I will continue to post pic's of my progress in the interior swap out.. and hope it looks as good when i am done as it does in my head..

Oh yeah!
I have one more question really I am going to install a roll bar and wonder if you guys think its better to have a bolt on style or weld it in? any thoughts?

Thanks.. I'll checl into these sprays for the Panels.. anyone have any help as to a faster way to remove the old Glue? Or is it simply just that it's too cold her to remove it with any speed?
maybe I'll try a portable heater to heat the inside temp of the car up while I scrub....

I use a cleaner especially formulated for contact cement I use doing counter tops to clean my tools, hands, and everthing else I manage to coat with glue. nothing else works better. It's a combo of xylene, tulenol, mek, etc. it's sold in some lumber yards right next to the contact cement. it might help dissolve the glue. it sure works to clean up my messes

I'm not sure. It's made by the same brands as the contact cement types I use but not every lumber yard or hardware store carries it. I use Weldwood and a few other brands and it's usually right next to the gallons I buy. plain paint thinner does nothing to the glue and this stuff melts it away. I put my old stiff brushes in it and they're usable again after a few minutes. and I've spilled enough gallons of glue to always have some on hand for cleanup. wait. found a can. this one is made by Wilsonart and called Lokweld Adhesive Solvent. contains Toluene, MEK, Ketone, and Naphtha. it's sold by other brands as well.
