Any Advice on Removing Piping Between Front Fender and Panel Below Windshield?

As the subject says, I am trying to remove the piping (900-631-115-90) between the front fender and the panel below the windshield where the wipers come out of. I managed to get almost 1/2 of it, and now it has partially torn, leaving the part that wedges between the panels still in there. Any advice on how to get this stuff out?

you have to at least loosen the two hex head bolts up under the rear part of the front fender.
Pelican sells replacement welting, I think there are two thicknesses available.
Just replaced it on my 930, and the new stuff looks great.

Agree - loosen bolts inside door - and extract. Get the fat ones vs skinny.

What year is your car? On some of the earlier cars the fender may be tacked in place at the rear so that removing the welting is nearly impossible. There is debate about whether the factory ever did this but in my case I believe they did.
My project took about ten hours longer than I thought it would!

Those 2 fasteners seem like they're difficult to get to. What combination of tools and/or extensions did you use to get at them?

Porschenut, for the bolt furthest towards the back of the car (the one less recessed) I used a 3/8" drive ratchet and 5mm hex socket. For the one really recessed in there (2nd from the back of the car) I used the 3/8" ratchet, extension, universal joint, and the 5mm hex socket:


Loosened each of them a few turns, and that created enough of a gap for me to be able to pull the old, perished one out and insert the new one.

Just to be clear, for those of you needing to remove the entire seal you will also have to loosen the first 2 bolts located inside the front trunk that secure the fenders. Loosening just the 2 bolts inside the doorway worked for wrxnofx as he only had to remove rear half. Also use of a soapy water mix will greatly aid the insertion of the new seal.

Can someone post a pic of a factory seal with the hood up?

I'm trying to figure out what to do about the flat part that extends into the trunk.
Trim it? Glue it down?

That part is supposed to go down into the groove between fender and frunk...and ends at the hood seal. Sits flush with the body panel, just like the other part, when it's in correctly. I can't get mine to do it, no matter how much I loosen the fender. I try to cram it down in there but no go.

My recommendation if you run into that issue would be to trim off the bottom of it so it's shorter and will fit better into the crack, if you can't get it to go all the way down.
