Fuchs RSR finish ?
The rough finish is done by blasting it with a soft media ?
After blasting, it is clear anodized or it is clear coated ? |
|
Originally it was just as it came out of the mold, rough cast, didn't go through the polishing phase of production.
Clear anodized was the original process. |
My first Porsche project was doing and rsr finish this past spring. Pm me if you have any questions. It wasn't to difficult and I was very happy with the result

These are some pics I posted on Instagram when doing the wheels

Perks, those look great!! I would love to do mine someday :-(

Beautiful perks. How long did it take u?
|
Probably around 8 hours total spread over a month. Taping was worst part for me. I had a local shop do bead blasting, not sure how long it would take to do that part on your own.
|
Matt, you know this is an excuse to show a pic of your car with the wheels on it.
|
I didn't find the taping to be all that hard. I did not go with the rough RSR finish, but had them anodized in the early classic finish instead. The taping job should be the same for either one, though.

Hey Arne. Those look good. Where did you have the anodizing done? I have some deep 6s I would like to restore to stock finish and don't really want to wait a year for the pro's to do it.
|
Arne they look really good. Kirk you are right, lol.
|
Those are sweet - nice work.
|
Arne - nice job and congrats on those wheels and the whole car - damn it looks good!

David hasn't been back to Pelican in close to 18 months, so I don't know if he is still doing wheels. His contact info is on his profile page on the About Me tab, also in the Visitor Messages on my profile. Pelican Parts Technical BBS - View Profile: 911M491 |
Is that a crack at one of your lug holes?

Most don't mention how they keep the lug nut recesses clean. What did you guys do? Throw a coin or lug nut in before you paint?
