Rags are one of our best tools

Went to do a oil change on my 43000 miles Carrera, that i have only had
10 months ex US.Lay down under the rear ,to check oil tank socket bolt size,
took a rag to wipe around a few items, and found a crack in the oil hose from oil
reservoir to oil cooler --S hose ,crack was right at the lower and oil tank end,was
very surprised as was not visible before i wiped hose down. New one here tomorrow.
It may interest you,how expensive things are in ausy,as most will know that part is
about $25.00 US,here its $73.00, I did not want to wait for it from US as holidays
only a week away.Interesting from all previous receipts has never been changed
before,so i guess it was time.--so rags are really handy. Also found when changing
air cleaner both rear clips were not connected no surprise i guess as rear bottom
was a little challenging.

I would say that you have prevented a major oil leaking disaster. At the LEAST it would have messed up your garage floor. At the WORST you could have lost an engine had it let go at speed.

Good job!

Actually at worst it dumps oil all over that tire at 80 MPH and you instantly go spinning in circles... I know firsthand!

Mine had the same "look" to it, but i later found it it was just on the surface. Nonetheless I replaced it.

Yeah, you were probably fine. Looks superficial.

Of course replacing now is a good PM.

I replaced this hose on my '84 several years ago because the original was looking like yours.

Now that replacement S hose is no longer soft but hard as a rock. Time to replace it again.

When the hose is "hard as a rock", time to replace............that is key.

When it's cold right? The hose gets pliable when the car is warmed up.
