Look around and you can find dual distributors. I think I paid $800 -- the $400 noted above seems low. the machinist also told me to get an SC distributor (he want s the guts of it to put into the 964 dist.).
Check out Steve Wiener's rennsport web site for the benefits of twin-plugging, incl. the larger spark plug gaps available. Also, one of Bruce Anderson's columns noted that the engine has a much more powerful subjective feel with twin-plugging. I suspect that it may be nearly as cheap to get a 3.6L engine as to modify an earlier engine, tho it is more trouble to put them into the earlier cars. I already had a 3.2L so that's what I am doing.

Jerry Woods told me tht the JE pistons fail sometimes (note that he builds mostly racing engines), but then added that the Mahles do also sometimes. I doubt if anyone has the statistical data to really determine if one failure rate is higher than the other. But the conv. wisdom is that you cannot do better than Mahles.
