Yet another engine # question
Hi Guys Newbie here.
I have a chance at what I thought was a Euro 1974 911 Turbo. Wide body, flares. badged turbo etc. Very delicate negotiations...One lady owner, garaged sinced 84 ! No pictures allowed ... Here they are..Thanks in anticipation. 911 4 6 0 0 966 6 6 4 1 335 Cheers Steve |

911 4 6 0 0 966
911=type 911 4=1974 6=Carrera 0=coupe 0966=sequence number According to the source I used, a turbo would have a 7 instead of a 6 as the fifth digit in the above VIN 6 6 4 1 335 6=6 cylinder 6=Carrera, 3.0L or 3.0L RS engine 4=1974 model year 1335=sequence number A turbo would have a 7 instead of a 6 as the second digit in the engine sequence.

It's an Impact Bumper Euro Carrera. Limited production between 74-76. Same engine as the 72-73 RS. They fetch between $100-300k.

And for those keeping score, there were no 1974 turbos. Turbo production started in the 1975 model year.
It's a 1974 Carrera coupe, sometimes called a Carrera 2.7. The 1974 Carrera RS was a very different car. JR |
