Extra cost option? Hmm I thought they were standard. Anyway: Please can we get a pic of the 17 inch Fuchs? |

For looks....the 17's would be awesome. The only question I would have is are they "track worthy"?

I don't care what anyone says. I want forged wheels. I think everyone else does, too, from the price of 9" wide Fuchs.
You can go on all day long about how it's only good for 1/10th of a second, or how there's no difference for the average driver, but I'm going to pick the forged wheels every day. There's a reason all the racers use them. When I bought my 911, I was buying the absolute best I could afford. That trend continues.

I am not sure if this helps at all, but here is the same car with 16" and 17" wheels. It is far more instructive as a rollover, but unless someone can educate me how to post the HTML and rollover images this will have to do.

Here's the real thing. 16's above, 17's below:
![]() And the 17's in action: ![]() I personally think that 16's look best on 911's. But the tire availability is going to dry up for them (like it did on 15's). Good sizes will be available for 17's for a long time to come.

It depends, of course, on the rim design Wayne is considering. The comparison on the white car just increases the size of the total wheel, preserving all relational dimensions. The wheels on Jack's comparison show the center "spoked" portion of the wheel remaining the same size, but with a larger rim to get to the 17" diameter. Personally, if the 17s Wayne may supply are like the example on the white car, I'd like them better than the customs Jack had built. From your comments, Jack, I'd guess you might feel the same.

OK,
So I am just about sold already and I am willing to take the plunge and trade my 7-8 x15's to the 17's. Are these going to be available or not??

I'll third or fourth that thought! Early 911 guys generally go nuts over the 7x15 R wheels, but the cost is not reasonable. The market for these could be just as great as for the 17's. Did you prod the manufacturer about these, Wayne?

Just saw this thread on a search.
Wayne, did you manage to get hold of the set of 17 inch Fuchs from Italy? |

Wayne will these 17" wheels be made in the same facility as the original Fuch wheels and called Fuchs as many of us are already calling them or will these be 17" Fuchsimilies made by a different company? The development and sale of these rims may have an adverse affect on the value of my 7/9x16's. Maybe time to dump them soon!

Did HRE stop making these? I have 8x16 and 9x17 Fuchs replicas made by HRE. Very lightweight and strong. The centers were not made from actual Fuchs, but are forged to the best of my knowledge.
