Question on tires sizes for wide wheels, turbo body

Rear wheel is 17 x 11 (or 17 x 12?), tire is 315 x 35 x 17.
On the front, wheel size is 17 x 9. What tire size would you use?
Thank you.

I used 245/40. The 45 series tire looked too big and rubbed my AC lines.

I run a 245/40/17 on the front. (275/40/17 rear)

In a 245. when I compared the 40 to a 45 the numbers looked like this:
40 front = 24.71
45 front = 25.68

If you step up to a 255 like NY65912 suggested, check the diameter, likely sticking close to 25"

I know many guys who run a 315 on the rear run a 255 up front.
Not all manufacturers have the same combinations either.

Nito NT01 comes in a 255/40ZR17 24.92"
Hoosier R6 only comes in a 45 but diameter is larger 255/45/17 26.20"

For reference, Nito lists these for their NT01 (the last number is the diameter)

255/40ZR17 24.92

235/40ZR17 24.40
245/45ZR17 25.55
255/40ZR17 24.92
275/40ZR17 25.55
P315/35ZR17 25.43

I stand corrected. I ran Kuhmo Ecsta XS 255/40 on my IROC look.

245 or 255/40/17 will both work. Manufacturers will vary on widths. For instance my 255 Hoosier would rub the inside fender on a tight turn were my Kuhmos would not. Everything I've tried in 245's fit fine.

40 series is better than 45 series to avoid rubbing (on my wheel well), but it leave a big gap with the fender lip.
Does anyone know/care proportion between front and rear tire? I think it does affect the way the car drive and brake. How do they affect, what is acceptable, what is not. I read about it but forgot

Are your wheels sizes 11" and 9" width? If so, I wonder how they look on the car. Do you have pics that you can post?
Thanks.

I have 255/40/17 on my 17 x 9 (or 9.5") right now. It looks fine, in term of tire fitting on wheel. I wonder how would 245/40 looks on the wheel, is it narrower compare to the wheel? Do you have pic of this set up?

A 245 will just be slightly narrower. Hardly noticeable. The photo shows 245/40 Hoosiers on a 930.

Thanks.
My rears are 10.5 so that I can run a variety of sizes. If they were 11 it would limit some more readily available choices, and besides a second set of rear track wheels that I have are 12 and hold 315s. The rears on the car in this pic are 275.

The fronts are 245 on 9s

I had the rims built for the car so my centres are likely offset differently ( I know it is a 73 but the body dimensions are the same)
