Headlights left on, Warning buzzer

I am a fairly new 911 owner. I bought an 82 911sc and I noticed that when I turn the car off and leave the headlights on there is no warning buzzer or chime. Is there one and it's just not fuctional or did it not have one to begin with? If there is one, can someone tell me where it is located and a part name/number.

Thanks

I think that there is only a key in/door open warning buzzer...

If you were sitting in your 911, the buzzer is located in the panel right next to your left leg.

Oops!!! I guess I should have looked at your location. Maybe panel is a bad word to describe it. It is between the door and your pedals. If you feel around, you should feel the screws that hold it in place. If you don't find it, I can probably take a picture of it tomorrow.

There SHOULD be a "lights on" buzzer. My Subaru automatically shuts the lights off if the ignition is off unless you hit a certain button. At least the headlights don't work with the car off in the 911.

I is spoiled, but at least the light switch is right next to the key.

I looked for a panel and i di not see one, unless its behind the carpet. Do I need to pull that back? I would like to be sure that this is the fix/resolution to my initial quest first before I start pulling up carpet.

They sell the warning buzzer at any auto parts store for < $5, two wires and it installs in 5 mins.

Reading and understanding the instructions...10 mins.

As was already pointed out, an 82SC has a buzzer that sounds when the driver's door is opened and the key is in the ignition.
There is also a seat belt buzzer that will sound if the driver's seat belt is not buckled and the engine is running. But nothing to help keep you from leaving the lights on by accident.
Sounds like you want a buzzer or bell that sounds when the driver's door is opened, the ignition is off, and the lights are still on.
I haven't tried this, but it should do the trick. The relays are very inexpensive, I may give it a try with some spare relays left over from doing the headlights.

Jack,
Don't forget that on an 82SC with the ignition off and the headlight switch on, the headlights aren't illuminated. Only the parking lights stay on, which is still enough to run down your battery after about 8 hours. At least that's how it works on my US 82 SC.

911Mac ... good point!
Mine works the same. Switch off the engine with the lights on - the headlight goes OFF and the parking lights remain ON. Ask me how I know!!
I wonder if that situation will trigger the buzzer. Oh hum ... can't try it until I get the car back

Haven't got my owner's Manuel .... is the headlight fuse holder and the parking light fuse holder one and the same?

If yes, it should work .... shouldn't it?

My manual shows the right front and rear parking lights on fuse #3, the left front and rear parking lights and the engine compartment light on fuse #4. The right low beams on fuse #5, left low beams on fuse #6, the right high beams on fuse #7 and the left high beams on fuse #8.
Sounds like you can use #3 or #4 and it should work.

I tried taking a picture, but taking a picture of a black interior in poor light did not work out very well. The panel has carpet on it. Just feel around and you should find the screws that hold the panel in place.
