Maybe I am a little early to chime in since I don't have the 3.6 yet...but that would be a solid group.

Jim I know there is plenty of room here, but the 3.6 guys seem to always be defending themselves for hotrodding thier cars, I personaly respect any guy or gal with a porsche, but admit it, the hot rodders take alot of grief, we dont fit with the R grupp, The concours guys are always mad because we are cutting another car up, We are not quit sc guys, maybe 3.6 group is not the key here, maybe it should be the hotrod group, early cars with 3.2's or even 3.0's, K9 i think your right, come on guys chime in here, Kevin

Like you don't love the attention.

I think there's very few people here "giving 3.6 guys grief". I think if anything you're looked up to.

There is only one thread I know of in which modders & rodders are given any type of attitude, and that's the "Glad to have a V8" thread. That's an entirely different story, though.

Relax, have fun.

I've never taken a bit of flack from anyone in the R Gruppe for my swapped 3.6. If there's attitude about it there, no one's sharing it with me.

I've thought about creating a web site devoted to 3.6 swaps and the issues associated with them. I don't think it would be a good idea to try to host a BBS, there, though, since it would only mean splintering the sizeable group of 3.6 swap owners that already congregate here. I have never seen a thread about doing any Porsche motor swap bogged down by criticism on this BBS, either.

But a devoted web site would make a good place for an archive of tech articles that deal with 3.6-specific issues.

Creating issue-specific subdivisions in this BBS generally fails. Lots of guys autocross and track their cars here, but the forum devoted to it gets almost zero traffic.

The 911 Tech forum ain't broke -- quite the opposite, as we all know. So I'm cautious about schemes to fix it.

Kevin, hot rodders are cool. I'd prefer you guys stay in main 911 forum...that way it'll be more convenient to ask questions / learn more about my 993's 3.6L. Kind'a selfish of me, huh?

Just remember . . . if you split off from the 911 board don't come running home to momma.

Maybe I'm a bit dense, but I haven't noticed any grief giving, in fact many of the promenent members of this board have 3.6 conversions (Bill Verburg, Jack Olsen, Thom, Moses come to mind) and they don't seem to have a problem.

The R gruppeys have their own thing, and thats ok. But they don't contribute to this board like the "Conversioners"

Hang around, I'm learning everyday on what to do and what not to do when it comes time to convert my conversion to a V-ram.

Jack, I'd be happy to host a small section of our tech article area dedicated to 3.6 conversions. I think that it is definitely needed.

As for splitting the forum up, I'd be more likely to make an engine rebuilding forum before a 3.6 forum. Jack is right - splitting up the forums in the past hasn't worked too well. The 993/964 forum doesn't get very much traffic at all...

The new version of vBulletin is coming out soon, and I expect it to have a bunch of new features that will solve some of the 'problems' here.

just a quick thought...

maybe PP can appoint some members to dig through the old threads and move them to a locked forum...somewhere you can't respond any more to the post but can read a past info filled thread...

so there can be a brake section and topics like 930 conversions etc... can put there, but it is not for responding...just for reference

I think if you get a volunteer for brakes, one for 3.6L swaps, one for suspension, etc...

not that you are not busy enough!! just a thought

Hey guys I was just speaking out loud, I like your ideas, if its cool with you guys I am gonna do a thread on the conversion with as much info and pictures as I go, I also plan to be as conservative with the cash as possible but not to the point where it will affect the over all project, Ill be shopping for used stuff to see whats out there, I also have some other ideas to try with oil coolers lines etc, This may not be the next BB, but its gonna pizz some vettes off, Kevin

that sounds good Kevin...

Wayne, a 3.6 transplant tech area seems like a great idea, and maybe Harald will assist me with getting some info/pics while my 3.6 transplant is progress to post in the tech area. I have been on Steve's site about every day for the past week drooling over his info and pics.
