Door Lock Pull Rod

I have no problem paying for parts for my beloved Porsche but I sort of find the asking price for a Door Lock Pull Rod is over the top.

Besides bending a piece of similar gauged wire, can anyone share their tip of what they substituted in place of it. There has to be something a lot cheaper than 50 dollars ( In Australia at present that is a lot of money )

No disrespect intended to our host as it seems the normal price charged for this part

Earlier this year I broke the arm that connects to the back of the plastic pull handle on my door. New that simple little rod is $52. I put a WTB ad on here and got a reply from one of the usual suspects for like $25. Still too expensive.

I called my local P-car tech and he had a bunch of them lying around from all the people he did RS door panel conversions for. Price: $0.

Moral of the story is, call your local P-car tech and see if he has one lying around.

Do you have pictures of how the door lock pull rod is installed? I have a bare door and the rod just hangs out. I can't figure where it goes hooked up to.

You should also replace those white clips.

Good luck,

Gerry

The rod pushes down into two plastic grommet pieces. One is on the back of the plastic door handle that you pull to open the door. The other is on the metal piece inside the door. I grabbed a couple pics from a different thread.

Here is the door handle I'm talking about:

And here is when the door handle is angled out and the rod is pushed up and out of the grommet (the rod is not shown here):

EDIT: I see 86 beat me to the pics. His shows the inner door with the actual rod, and my pic shows the white grommet in the plastic door handle that the rod pushes down into.

Ahh! I get it. the end gets hooked up the door handle. Since i'm going with the RS door panels it will be connected the red strap. First timer here. Thanks for the pictures.

The red strap REPLACES that rod. You use a nut and bolt to screw to strap to the hole inside the door housing, the rod gets tossed to the side and forgotten.

I needed one that was 1/32" shorter then stock so the flexy plastic door handle would work well with a seat bolster in the way. Bent a chunk of piano wire. Problem solved for a couple pennies.
