question about one R-gruppe car

Hello,
I have read your messages for a long time, but it is my first thread on this (very good) forum. I'm french, so sorry regarding some wrong writting!
I will buy in some weeks a '84 3.2 carrera. I want to build a track car with her, in the early before '73 style. I will install some ligther panels (as GT Racing, but in France). Today, in a french 911 magazine (flat 6), I see a report about German auto fest in LA. I saw pelican pictures before, but a car wich is not pictured on this website is in the magazine. It is a red '73 RS style 911. Perhaps a real one... but I think rear lights are more SC or 3.2 style... even thought there is not Porsche red panel between them. plate is: SLDERS. Perhaps its owner reads this message!
I would like to have informations about this car. If I'm right regarding origin, how did he perform the transformation? finally, he has EXACTLY the same exhaust I would like to have (double exit, parralel, just under the 2 bumpers (not under lights), what is the brand of this one? Are someone aware about others exhaust like that?
Thanks in advance.
Stéphane.

Chrome trim makes me think it's an early car.

Rear makes me think of the RSR, I think a garage in England was offering a kit.

You can make it or have it made your self.

I have a similar RSR style muffler. Took a stock muffler and filled the side exit and added the two under bumper exits. The opposite side from the filled side exit requires one inner panel to be opened too.

I'm pretty sure that's Jerry Murray's slide-valved, twin-plugged 72 RS clone.

I'll confirm that...

That is indeed Jerry Murray's oh-to-kool killer 2.8 RS clone

I don't think Jerry is ever on the board though.....

The car minus engine was built by Mark Kinninger the head mech at Black Forest in San Diego. Jerry got it and then make some nice and expensive engine upgrades too.
It certainly is a very slick looking RS bodied R Gruppe car.

You can buy an exhaust like that from performance products for sure and I think from our host!!! I have heard they are loud!!! The one from Performance products seems excessively expensive also. On the Rennlist board there is a guy who did the same mod as mentioned above but he left the single opening in tact and used plugs (like the rally cars) so that it was quiet on the street (relatively) with the single side out and load and powerful on the track with the doubles opened.

Stephane,

The muffler in the picture is a 2 in 2 out muffler. It can be purchased from a number of sources, or you can modify an existing muffler. Look here for instructions to make this modification.

You should replace the whole exhaust on the '84 with the early stle heat exchangers, and then install your modified muffler.

I'm very impressed how quick you are to answer!!!
This car is really perfect, really like I want mine to be. It's my target!
Thanks for explaination regarding exhaust. I saw some exhaust with 3 outlets, I know why now!
I will keep you informed, I think I will do this modification.

Muffler

The muffler on Jerry Murry's Red 1972 was built by
S- Car-Go-Racing. I liked the sound of Jerrys car and asked him were he got his muffler. I had them do one for my car as well and I am very happy with the sound and preformance.
