Starter wiring help 1967 911S
Cue the obligatory wiring statement... I should have taken a photo before I took the old one off, but obviously didn't. Please help.
I believe the two black wires were on the same post and the spade connector was on the 50 spade. First question is, is this correct? Second question relates to understanding what all the wires do. There are 2 yellow wires together A small black wire A large black wire. Please tell me what the wires are/do in layman terms as i would like to understand how the starter actually functions. Does the starter use the transmission as ground? How is that possible if it is aluminum? thanks as always and happy motoring to all. ![]() ![]() |

Yes, yellows on 50 and both blacks on the same post.
Yes, ground is through the case, Aluminum is an excellent conductor. The fatter Yellow is the solenoid circuit from the switch to initiate starting by completing a circuit. The second yellow wire goes back to the fuse panel area to initiate a device. The blacks are battery power to the starter and to the rear fuse panel as well. Google how a starter works, all over the net. ![]()
