				Offset for 7 x16 and 8 x16 fuchs question

I have just finished restoring a 3.2 911, and have enjoyed every fraught laden day of the project in fact I want to do another but I digress.

Included in the box of bits that was my car is a set of fuchs 7 x16 and 8 x16. However having just restored the rims I have a terrible feeling that they are not from my car at all (this is because the big box of bits had quite a few bits that were not from my car!!) Can anyone tell me what the offset of the standard 16" x 7 + 8 should be. I can then go and measure them. Yes there are offset info on the 8's but the paint is still drying and I cannot make it out. Your help would be most appreciated. Senn |

			7 is 23.3ET, 8 is 10.6ET.

Why do you think they aren't from the car? Aside from those sizes in 16" not being factory available for a 3.2.

look for the porsche part #s on the inside pedals -- they should both start with "911" -- post the #s and folks can give you more concrete advice. Keep in mind that if you 911 isn't a widebody, you'll likely need to roll the inside lips of the front fenders to keep the tires from rubbing during sharp turns with the 911 offset 7s in the front.

				3.2 Carrera Fuchs

16 X 6 front and 16 x7 rear Fuchs were available as an option on 3.2 Carreras, so it's possible that the 16 X 7s were from the rear of a 3.2, but the 16 X 8s were likely obtained elsewhere.

Bleedsblue: That is exactly what I feared that they are not from my model and that they will not fit having just blasted and repainted them. First things first, tomorrow I will measure the offset against the et's you have given and see what I have. Next I will fit them without tyres and see what they look like and compare them with the rims already on the car. I will report back. Thanks again you have all been very helpful and it is my first post! |

There is more than 1 type of 16x8s, have any pictures so we could help narrow it down?

911 offset 8x16 fuchs will have either 911.361.020.45 (later) or 911.362.117.XX part numbers and will work fine as rear wheels. 911 offset 7x16 fuchs will have either 911.361.020.44 (early, 77-84) or 911.362.115.00 (late, 85 on) part numbers and will work up front with possible fender rolling needs. Here's a good chart -- 911 Wheel Weights |

The 8! Are either 930 wheels or 951 wheels. But they should fit.

Agreed, they'll fit a 3.2 either way (though as noted, some have needed to roll for a 7 up front).

If the 7s and 8s have the same (rough) outer lip dimension, you'd have 951 offset 8s (ET 23), which are valuable to those who want to stuff 8s in the front of SC/Carreras. If the 8 has a deeper lip than the 7, gotta be "standard" 930 ET10s.

Fronts are 911 361 020 44 Rears are 911 362 117 et 10.6 So we have a result. Thanks to everyone for your advice, I can now buy some tyres which is all that is left to be done. I look forward to the day when I can post an answer to a question. |

There are no real 16x7 and 16x8 Fuchs that won't fit under the SC/Carrera body. You may need to roll the front fenders slightly depending on your tire size and ride height.

I have a 84 Carrera factory wide body (M491) it came from factory with 7s front 8s rear. Maybe these came off a early Carrera or Turbo (84-85)?

8x16s were standard on '89 models (with 6x16 up front), optional before that, but not sure when that option started. The 7s will be fine up front with a 205 tire. I've seen some folks run 225s. but I've never been able to do that without significant rubbing. If you have 911 8x16s, good for you, as they're not so cheap these days.
