Parasitic draw -- rear defoster??
I recently rehabbed the rear heater fan in my 3.2. The morning after I reinstalled it, the battery was dead.
I found a parasitic draw of more than 2A (!) that went away when I pulled the rear defroster fuse -- the bottom one in the rear fuse compartment. I'm a little baffled as to how this happened and what I can do to fix it. Anyone else have this problem before? |

Reinstall the fuse and try pulling the relay, might be stuck on backwards.

Make sure the plug to the rear defroster relay isn't reversed, it's easy to do. BTDT And it causes a current drain.

Looks like I did exactly that, reversed the relay. Thanks for the heads-up! That thing consumes a lot of current.

Yep....after my re-wire I checked for resistance across ground to +12 at the battery before hooking up the battery. Had a few ohms until I pulled the fuse to the rear heater. After careful checking of the wiring found the plug on backwards, even though it has a notch, it's still possible to flip it.

I just ordered a pizza that will be delivered to me... it's not gluten free, will have bacon, pepperoni, is warm & no debate prior to calling it in... best pizza ever.
