Power to fuse #8? Brake lights?
The brake lights on my '72 911 are not working and I've traced most everything down. In short I've found that if I jump the switch at the brake pedal and connect power directly from the battery to the brake light lead from the fuse box (from fuse #8) the brake lights work beautifully. I've also tested the switch and it's fine. So everything from the fuse back is good.
BUT...shouldn't there always be power to the hot (red wire) side of fuse #8? I've found that there is no power even with the key in the "on" position (which I don't think is required). The really confusing thing is that the turn signals, which come off of the same fuse (right?) work fine. ??? How is this ??? I've looked at the wiring diagram and it looks like the Hot wire to the fuse comes from the CDI (???). Is that correct? Something wrong with the CDI? The engine runs fine and has forever. ??? Any clues here??? |

Switched power comes in on the Red/Black wire to fuse 7 from the ignition switch, there is a built in jumper on the back of the fuse panel going to position 8.
