Keyless entry, double locking?

Ok I'm stumped and I've searched back to 2007!with no luck.

86 911 with factory power locks.
Installed a viper alarm that locks and unlocks with remote.
The problem is on the drivers side, the knob pops up all the way, however I have to use the key to click it one more time to the left, as if there is a double locking feature.

I never noticed this before as I always used the key.

Even if I lock it with the key, and then unlock a 1/4 turn both doors unlock visually however another 1/4 turn click unlocks drivers door all the way.

Is there something I'm missing, are all like this, does the factory alarm key over ride this, I would try it however it didn't come with car.

Never seen it on my 82. I don't have alarm/keyless (removed an aftermarket one) but having had the doors apart several times for clean/adjust etc has given me an understanding how the latch works and the lock rod etc, there are only two positions (on an 82 anyway) for driver door - locked or unlocked...nothing in between. Will be interesting to hear what others say.

The manual locks in an '82 have nothing in common with the electric locks. The factory alarm was a separate system from the electrical locks, so is has nothing to do with locking or unlocking the locks.

My advice would be to examine both locks inside the door as they are operated, to see if there is something different about the movement between the two.

I was suggesting that you watch at the operation of the lock mechanism, inside the door. It's been a couple of years since I sold my last car that had the factory locks but when I turned the key, there was only one point at which it activated the locking function and it never failed to either completely lock or unlock the locks all the way. It looks like your system needs some adjusting, or maybe the other stuff that has been added is affecting it.

Checking again before I pull off the door panel....

Does this seem correct?
