SC passenger footwell heat pipe routing

So I had the carpeting out of the passenger footwell area and realized that there is a small plastic "Y" connector that is fed from the main heat pipe that comes up from the RH heat exchanger that has one opening open to the area by the glovebox and has the other opening connected to the small vent to the right of the glovebox. This doesn't make any sense to me so I was hoping that one of you could take a peek under your dash on the passenger side and confirm that you have the same configuration. I didn't take any pictures but I could if needed. The hose is roughly 37mm in I.D.

Mine is an 88 Carrera, so I can't guarantee yours is the same, but if it is, the smaller hose from the Y distribution box goes to the side vent on the dash and the large hose goes through the frunk floor to the fresh/heated air distribution box that directs fresh and/or heated air to the dash for defrost or to the foot vents.

so the smaller line that you talk about goes straight to the side vent right? Mine does also but it has a Y cut into it. The open end of this Y is just open to under the dash which makes no sense to me.

Yes, my smaller line goes directly from the distribution box on the outlet of the footwell blower to the side vent. No "Y" in the smaller hose.

Thanks for the info, that clears things up for me other than why it was put there to begin with.
