How long is too long?

I am wondering how long you go waiting for parts you bought here on the For Sale forum to arrive before you ask PayPal for your money back.

I bought some parts here. I paid on 2-7-2016. The seller is about 500 miles from me (three day shipping tops). I PM'd the seller to ask for tracking on 2-18-2016 and was told they should be there the 19th or 20th. Well Saturday came and went with no parts delivery. I PM'd seller again but have not heard back. Seller has been on the forum since I sent the last PM but no response.

Am I wrong to expect my parts to get here in less than 2 weeks from a distance of 500 miles?

jcgranato,

What type of shipping did you pay for? When I buy my parts from Pelican it they usually arrive within 5 business days and that's shipping from CA to FL. I guess thats about 2,000 miles.. Usually if it takes longer that's because the part is on back order or lost in the mail. In my opinion it's common courtesy and good business practice for the seller to maintain communication with you.. If he contacts you by COB tomorrow and provides a tracking number then I would wait for the part and never do buisiness with him again. If not, then I would contact paypal and or your credit card company and file a claim.. I hope this helps..

If they have been online and haven't responded, call them out. Change your title and add their name.

It was not a purchase from Pelican Parts but a purchase from the for sale section from a member. I just don't understand why I am not getting any communication from the seller. I don't think its unreasonable for tracking info.

I used pelican as an example because I'm always ordering from them. Didn't mean to imply that I thought you were talking about them.. I knew you were talking about a member. Along wiyh my suggestion earlier, I agree with Ton504.

I differ with this. This isn't a typical car forum, we show lots of respect to each other. Throwing seller under the bus quickly without knowing the facts is not the norm.

hi jc and all my pelican friends this is Geneman. ( Frank) i apologize to you for the lateness of your parts. as i said last week, you should get them today or tomorrow. i had some issues including a broken finger (which i posted about ) and the flu, all of which combined to make these late getting into the mail. my guys in our shipping dept do this as a favor for me at my Institute and are sporadic in getting back to me with tracking numbers. i take the blame. have a nice week everyone. Frank

How about the guy in question show some respect to the buyer and let him know whats going on and not dodging his private message? Make sense?

I've know Geneman for a number of years and will vouch for him. Sounds like a circumstance of life getting in the way of parts trading. He will make it right.

Here's what I know about him.
I had a WTB add posted for a set of 3.2 heads. Someone posted on my thread that they had a set F/S but Geneman replied before I saw the post and poached them from me.
Pretty shady behavior IMO. Especially from a long time member who clearly knows better.
Good luck, I hope it works out.

I have to say that Frank (Geneman) stepped up today and refunded my money. We communicated for a week and when the parts did not show up he sent the refund. Good communication the last week. Thanks for doing the right thing.

Joe

Please read the post above yours. Now, don't you feel smitten you wanted blood when the seller cleaned the air?

Like I said, this is not a typical car forum.

Hence why we don't go for the throat when these issues arise.

Have a nice day.

No, I saw his post Tippy.

A broken finger and the flu is no excuse not to respond to buyer that is expecting a return private message. My point was the buyer mentioned he saw him online yet did not respond to his private message. That is called ignoring someone. You don't ignore someone you owe something to.

All the buyer wanted was for his to respond to the private message. He could have answered back when he was online and said whatever he said and this thread would have never happened.

Tippy, I'm ending this here. If you want to continue you can send me a private message. But if you see me online and no response from me, that means I'm ignoring you.

Buyer paid on 2/7

Buyer complains publicly on 2/21 about getting ignored.

Lo and behold, the very next day on 2/22, the seller posted "you should get them today or tomorrow"
That is implying that he already mailed the parts.

3 days later, on 2/25 the seller issues a refund.
Either the seller never mailed the parts, or the parts are still going to show up at the buyer's house.

Seller has wasted 3 weeks of the buyer's time.

If you guys knew Geneman, I'm certain you'd realize it was an honest mistake.
