Question 1986 3.2 questions.

I just bought a 1973 911T with a 1986 3.2 engine in it. The PO says it has a euro DME box. Does that matter?
Also, the car has the original 1973 gauges so I was wondering what the redline is for an '86 3.2? It's a completely stock engine. Even has the cat on it.
Also, why did the HP jump up in 1987? If I remember the '86 had 207 and the '87 has 214?
Thanks.

I removed my stock chip a while ago, but I think the 3.2 in US specs had a rev. limiter at 6800 rpms. Unless your 3.2 has the upgraded rod bolts, I'd stay under that number. 1987-89 3.2's had a few more horsies to handle the G50 transmission, which weighs about 100lbs. more than the previous 915. The G50 clutch assembly is heavier too. As for the Euro DME, I don't know about that, except that Euro emission specs were far less stringent then ours were back then.

A euro DME box with USA compression ratio and smog equipment (cat)? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense

Richard, Hammer, et al

The 3.2L engines had a soft redline of 6250 with the stock DME having a hard redline of 6520 +-50.

The Club Sport model had sodium filled intake valves (they all have Sodium filled exhaust) so the valves would be lighter so there was less likelihood of valve float so they raised the redline to 6800.
