where to get KENDALL gear oil

86 930 non-LSD

I am looking for kendall super three star gear oil.
the only thing I can find in the three star is synthetic,
I found NS_MP hypoid gear oil.
under the data sheet it says for TOPPING OFF LSD gear boxes but for filling it says GL-5 hypoid non-LSD.

I saw where Zimmerman was going to look into this stuff to see if it is what he recommends but I never saw a reply.

here is the spec sheet i found for it

http://www.phillips66lubricants.com/documents/Kendall/gear_lubricants/Ken%20NS-MP%20Hypoid%20Gear%20Lube%20TDSw%20726200.pdf

JEGS advertises it as an LSD gear oil

Glockner Oil 1043927, Kendall Axle Gear Lube | Glockner Oil

Not sure I would want to run that oil wit your 930. I don't think your synchros would like it very much.

Matt Monson owns Guard Transmission. He kind of knows what he is talking about. He makes and sells gears, LSD's and TBD's.

The gear lube in your link is the correct one for a 915/930. it is NOT the one with the LSD additive! Here is the one with the LSD additive :
Glockner Oil 1043987, Kendall Axle Gear Lube | Glockner Oil

You can put whatever you want in your gearbox. The gear oil in the links you provided is NOT what Pete Z was talking about in that Swepco thread 5 1/2 years ago. To the best of my knowledge the oil he liked no longer exists.

Actually, I have owned four 912s (if you include the 912e),five 914s and 6 911s. Every single one of them had the balk ring synchros like are found in your 930. I might actually run this Kendall oil with my Boxster's Getrag Borg-Warner synchros.

I run the much maligned Swepco 201. I warm it up slowly and rev it up enough to ease the load on the synchros.

Darn you guys, reading this thread I was just about to start popping the popcorn,
thinking we were about to have another Swepco/Kendall cage match.
Now it sounds like it is winding down. DRAT!!!

Ha ha - hell is right - the Mighty Meatlocker Turbo's, T-Rex a/c has been getting steady workouts here since the last week in February. Hopefully you'll bring some of that cool, non-humid Colorado air with you when you pay me a visit from up thar!

I'm not your Huckleberry. While my company was mentioned by another, I make racecar parts. FIA vintage racers shag my gears, and any other gear for that matter, in a few seasons. Some of the short 915 2nds they actually put them in fresh before East Africa and toss them afterwards. My race experience has very little to do with what will work on the street cars the rest of us punters drive.

When I post here, I take that into account. I post as if it was my own car. Most of my cars don't get flogged like a race car. I did spend a number of years dealing with street cars and race cars, looking at their boxes when they came to us for service. That gives me a greater sample set than most, though I wouldn't ever claim to be the end all answer because of that, either. I'll give me two cents. It's a couple free pennies. People are free to pick them up or they are free to leave them laying in the gutter for the next guy that might think they are worth something.

It's almost 70 today, again. I ran down the canyon to the grocery store for me sick wife and some flank steak to grill this evening. Windows down and ac blowing the whole way... in the Boxster. The '74 has no sunroof and working those windows is such a chore. It also seemed like an effor to rip the top off. Sometimes you just want to drive a car. I can't imagine an old daily driver.
