What's the latest on who makes the best headliners?

It looks like you can buy headliners from several places but it's hard to tell who makes them and what the quality is until you're holding it in your hands. What's the latest word on who the best manufacturers are?

I was looking at one place that had two versions -- the better being what they called 'German' material but they are out of it and they can't tell me how long it will be before they get it back in and they have a huge backlog.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Tim...I have a small tear on my Cab's headliner, and when looking around I found this site. Their prices seemed to be reasonable and they have been around for along time; they're located in San Diego

Get one with a cloth backing so the glue will stick. The all vinyl ones are hard to work with.

Thanks! I have read really good things about their work. I didn't realize they sold them separately. I just called and placed an order.

Thanks, good to know.

I put the old one in about 4 years ago. It had some kind of cloth on it as I recall. I can't remember where I bought it now but the quality was pretty good.

I must have not done a good job of glueing it down on the back of the sunroof opening. It came loose when the sunroof was opening or closing and the sunroof snagged it and tore it.

I already got the headliner replacement badge of honor so I'm letting someone else do it this time. But the silver lining in this cloud is I am getting the crap aftermarket rear window seal replaced with the right one.

Tim, got mine from our host. Good German stuff. But you got to use the right adhesive!

Cheers,
Johan

Tim... if you're going with a black HL and the backing is white, suggest putting the entire HL in a tub of black dye. Without doing this, every perf hole shows the white of the liner.

Thanks guys. A while back I was asking for references on an interior shop here in Atlanta. I had been to a couple but never got the feeling they really wanted to work on an old 911. Then last Saturday at cars & coffee, fellow Pelican garrett490 recommended Vintage Motorcar Restorations. Garrett had been to a concours school they hosted for PCA. I went down and met Ray Morgan the owner. After seeing his place and his stunning resume my only question was "where have you been all my life????"

So I'm letting Ray handle this repair. a) I am slammed with work right now and b) he will do a better job than me.

Guys, there was a stunning Irish green 912 targa that he was completing the restoration of. It was a basket case before and the car looked like it just rolled out of Stuttgart.

How I have been into Porsches for 5 years and never heard of this local guy is beyond me.
